Chesterman Named NJAC Baseball Rookie Player of the Week

Montclair, NJ (3/8/10) – Freshman infielder/outfielder Jason Chesterman (Bloomfield, NJ / Bloomfield) earned the first honor for the Montclair State baseball team on Monday as he was named the Rookie Player of the Week by the New Jersey Athletic Conference.

Chesterman earns the first NJAC Rookie of the Week selection after hitting .556 (5-for-9) in a pair of non-conference victories for the Red Hawks. In the first collegiate contest of his career, he went 3-for-5 with a triple, a stolen base, a RBI and a run scored in MSU’s 17-5 win over North Carolina Wesleyan. One day later, he wrapped up the week by going 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI, and a run scored in the Red Hawks’ 10-6 win over Piedmont.

Chesterman currently ranks fourth in the NJAC in batting average (.556).
