Brown, Asimou Garner Final NJAC Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards

Montclair, NJ (3/16/10) - Junior Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Palmyra) and senior Eugene Asimou (Livingston, NJ / Livingston) each earned the final weekly honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference for the indoor track and field season as they were chosen Track and Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.

The duo helped Montclair State to a 23rd-place finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships held at DePauw University last Saturday.

Brown just missed out on defending his title in the 55 meter hurdles as he place second to Edgar Townsend of Greenville College. Brown posted a time of 7.51 seconds, but was edged out by Townsend who crossed in a time of 7.46 seconds.

Asimou placed eighth in the shot put as he got off a best throw of 16.35 meters (53-feet, 7 3/4-inches).

Both athletes earned All-America honors by virtue of their Top 8 finish at the NCAA Championships. It is the third consecutive honor for Brown while Asimou also earned his third as he was named in 2007 and 2008. Asimou missed the 2009 NCAA Championships due to injury.
