Montclair, NJ (3/22/10) – Following one of the best week's in the history of the Montclair State men's lacrosse program the Red Hawks reaped the rewards on Monday as senior goalkeeper Andrew Rosado (Elmwood Park, NJ / St. Joseph's (Montvale)) and freshman midfielder Sean Gilmore (Elmwood Park, NJ / Bergen Catholic) were named the Skyline Confernece Player and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Rosado stood tall in net last week as the Red Hawks knocked off two top-20 programs. In two games, Rosado posted a 6.50 goals against average along with a .629 save percentage. He stopped 10 shots while allowing just eight goals in a 10-8 win over No. 16 Wesleyan. He then stopped 12 shots, allowing just five goals in a win over No. 15 Stevens. The victory was the first for Montclair State over Stevens since 2000.
Gilmore was part of a defensive effort that limited the two Top 20 teams to eight goals or less. Gilmore recorded four ground balls in wins over 16th-ranked Wesleyan and 15th-ranked Stevens. He was also assigned the task of defending each team’s top scorer. Gilmore limited Wesleyan’s Jon Killeen to one goal and Stevens’ Chris Laurita to one goal.
