Women's Outdoor Track Finishes Seventh at CTC Championships

Center Valley, PA (4/18/10) – Freshman Ashadaya Patterson (Trenton, NJ / Northern Burlington) recorded a pair of Top 5 finishes, including an ECAC qualifying mark in the 100 hurdles as Montclair State placed 17th at the CTC Championships held at DeSales University over the weekend.

Patterson placed third in the 400 hurdles as she crossed in a time of 1:06.81 just missing the ECAC standard. Earlier in the day she ran 15.59 during the preliminaries of the 100 hurdles before going 15.61 in the finals to place fifth.

Junior Farida Jawando (Colts Neck, NJ / Monmouth Regional) finished second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:22.36. Ashley Powell (Orange, NJ / Marylawn of the Oranges) was eighth in the 100 meters (13.50 / 13.11 prelims) and finished 14th in the 200 meters (27.57).

In the field events, Jackie Philbin (Lincoln Park, NJ / Boonton) placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 33.34 meters and seventh in the javelin (29.64 meters). Evelyn Sha (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) was sixth and Nicole Galipo (Clarksburg, NJ / Allentown) 10th in the high jump at 1.52 and 1.47 meters, respectively. Sara Douma (West Milford, NJ / West Milford) was fifth in the triple jump (10.04 meters) with Katherine Tallaj (Paramus, NJ / Immaculate Heart) finishing eighth at 10.01 meters.

Tallaj was also 10th in the 100 hurdles (17.19) with Galipo placing 12th (18.06) as well as 12th in the 400 hurdles (1:13.88).

Leah McClish (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) finished 13th in the 400 meters while Nicole Presti (Saddle Brook, NJ / Saddle Brook) was 13th in the 1500 meters.

Montclair’s 4x400 relay team was fourth with a time if 4:11.88.
