Ewing, NJ (5/8/10) - Freshman Ashadaya Patterson (Trenton, NJ/Northern Burlington) was named Female Rookie of the Year as she helped the Montclair State women's outdoor track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the 2010 NJAC Championships held at The College of New Jersey on Saturday afternoon.
Patterson placed second in 100-meter hurdles with an NCAA provisional time of 14.94. She also placed second in the 400-meter hurdles posting 1:04.87. Sara Douma (West Milford, NJ / West Milford) won the triple jump to help the Red Hawks' efforts as she leaped 10.75 meters.
On the men's side, senior Eugene Asimou (Livingston, NJ / Livingston) captured the shot put as the MSU men placed seventh. Asimou registered a winning throw of 15.96 meters.
