Special Programs Welcome Newest Campus Community Members to Montclair State University

The end of summer is an exciting time for first-year students. It is exciting to be beginning a new chapter in your lives, but perhaps also a little overwhelming or even a bit scary. Good news! Montclair State has programs in place to help you deal with all of those feelings. RES Hawk Days, Red Hawk Days and Red Hawk Frenzy are programs designed for first-year and transfer students at Montclair State to help make the transition to the University as seamless as possible.

RES Hawk Days

For first-year students living on campus, Move-In-Day is Sunday, August 29. There will be volunteers to help them move in, a service fair where various campus offices will be available to assist them, and in-hall meetings and activities including a movie under the stars presented by the Residential Leadership Council (RLC). On Monday, August 30, as students are getting settled in their new room, other activities are happening as well. Campus offices will be open for business, there will be a game show, two showings of Shrek Forever After, Campus Recreation preview day and a mixer in the Bohn/Blanton Quad. These programs are the perfect opportunity for students to get to know their roommates, floormates, and Community Assistants! (Check out RES Hawk Days)

Red Hawk Days

Montclair State University will officially welcome all first-year and transfer students to the University community during Red Hawk Days. This event is a continuation of New Student and Transfer Orientation and is a requirement for all new students. Students will have the opportunity to meet new classmates, find out about college expectations, campus services and student organizations, learn how to get involved and enjoy free food! They will also get a free t-shirt and be able to participate in the first-ever College Olympics. (Check out Red Hawk Days)

Red Hawk Frenzy

Red Hawk Frenzy is a two-week, event-filled kick-off for the fall semester for the University community. These events are specifically designed to assist all--especially first year students--in meeting new people, becoming familiar with the campus, and having a Red Hawk good time!  From August 29 to September 12, the calendar is packed with great events ranging from a comedy show to a black light party, and from bingo to Broadway. Students are sure to find something they like! (Check out Red Hawk Frenzy)

Joining In

Looking to get involved on campus? Looking to meet people with similar interests? New students shouldn’t miss the opportunity to swing by the Student Organization Fair and discover all of the clubs and organizations that exist here at Montclair State and how to join! The fair happens Wednesday, September 8, from 2:30 - 5:00 p.m. in the Student Center Quad.

There’s a lot happening over the course of the first weeks of school. It’s Montclair State’s way of saying “Welcome” and a great way for our newest members to become an active part of our campus community. We’ll see you there!
