Montclair, NJ (9/13/10) – Sophomore goalkeeper Anthony Rogic (Boonton, NJ / Morris Catholic) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Rogic earns NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors after logging 280 minutes of play without surrendering a goal in a 3-0 week of play for the Red Hawks. He first needed only one save for a shutout in MSU’s home-opening 5-0 win over New York City Tech. Two days later in the Oneonta Mayor’s Cup Tournament, he collected three saves in 110 minutes of action during the Red Hawks’ scoreless double-overtime draw with host Oneonta. He wrapped up the week by collecting six saves in a 1-0 Championship Match victory over No. 8 Whitworth.
Rogic, who earned Defensive MVP honors for his play at Oneonta, currently ranks second in the NJAC in both goals against average (0.31) and save percentage (.917).
