Women's Soccer Races Past CCNY for Second Straight Win, 7-0

Purchase, NY (9/16/10) â€“Sophomore forward Rachel Senyszyn (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) scored a pair of goals in a span of 1:27 and also added an assist as Montclair State picked up its second straight victory as the Red Hawks blanked City College of New York, 7-0 in a weather-shortened contest at MSU Soccer Park on Wednesday afternoon. The game was called with 18:06 left in the second half.

Christina DeMartinis (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon) and Jenna Carroll (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) each had goals as the Red Hawks moved back over the .500 mark at 3-2-2 on the season.

Junior goalkeeper Natasha Mutumbo (Queens, NY) made three saves for the Beavers, who fell to 0-7 with the loss.

Montclair State outshot the Beavers 19-2 in the first half and got on the board just shy of the eight-minute mark. Off a corner kick, DeMartinis lofted a ball that bent inside the near post for her first tally of the season and a 1-0 Red Hawks lead at 7:47 of the period.

Carroll would collect her second goal in as many games nine minutes later as she took a Senyszyn cross at the six yard line and deposited the ball into the middle of the net. That would be the start of a three-goal run by Montclair in a span of 1:50. Senyszyn would net her first as she fired in a pass at the top of the box from Katie Minervini (Oceanport, NJ / Shore Regional) at 16:49. She registered her second 87 seconds later. Taking the ball along the left end line, Senyszyn fired a point-blank shot at the left post past Mutombo as Montclair led 4-0.

Senior Nicole Anulewicz (Woodbridge, NJ / Woodbridge) made it a five goal contest at 30:02 as her blast from the top of the box ducked just under the crossbar for her second of the year. Freshman Corinne Macaluso (Hopatcong, NJ / Hopatcong) scored her first collegiate goal with 5:56 to play in the half as she finished off a give-and-go with Lorena Hincapie (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech).

Amanda Pero (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Brige) capped the scoring with 22 seconds left as she knocked in a pass fromSierra Galati (Avalon, NJ / Holy Spirit).

Sophomore goalkeeper Marisa Zayac (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) earned the shutout, her second of the year.

Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, September 18 as the Red Hawks open up NJAC play in Glassboro against Rowan University at 1:00 pm. CCNY is back out on the road on the same day taking on the Devils of FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ at 2:00 pm.
