Freshman libero Kaitlin Irwin (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) was chosen as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time on Tuesday.
Irwin earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors again after averaging 6.86 digs and 0.86 service aces per set during four matches for the Red Hawks. She opened the week with back-to-back 18-dig and 14-dig performances in a three-day span in conference matches against Rowan and Rutgers-Camden. After recording 22 digs and two aces in a non-conference defeat to Polytechnic, she wrapped up the week with 42 digs and seven service aces in a 3-2 defeat to Brooklyn.
She currently is the only NJAC player to record 40 or more digs in a match this season, a feat that she has accomplished twice in a seven-day span. Irwin currently leads the NJAC in digs with an average of 5.80 per set.
