Allentown, PA (10/16/10) - Freshman Marta Topor (Bogota, NJ / Bogota)recorded 20 kills and added 15 digs while Alyssa Batiste (Manahawkin, NJ / Southern Regional) tallied 14 kills, 23 assists and 20 digs as Montclair State lost to Muhlenberg and Johns Hopkins in a tri-match at Muhlenberg's Memorial Hall on Saturday.
Freshman libero Kaitlin Irwin (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) had two service aces and 44 digs in the two matches as the Red Hawks (4-23) had their two-match win streak halted.
Batiste, Topor and Rhianna Ratta (Belleville, NJ / Belleville) each had seven kills in the loss to Muhlenberg as MSU fell 25-21, 25-15 and 29-27. Batiste added 12 assists and 13 digs while Irwin collected 13 digs. Sara Girgus (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills) had four kills and Bella Milstein (Edison, NJ / JP Stevens) chipped in with seven assists.
Topor led Montclair State with 13 kills and added nine digs as the Red Hawks split the first two sets with Johns Hopkins winning the second 27-25 before the Blue Jays took the match with 25-14 and 25-12 set victories in the third and fourth, respectively.
Batiste had seven kills, 11 assists and seven digs while Megan Cockcroft (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) recorded six kills.
Montclair State is back in action on Thursday, October 14 as they host local and NJAC rival William Paterson at 7:00 pm in the Panzer Athletic Center.
