Montclair, NJ (10/18/10) - Junior football wide receiver Dan Keegan (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex) and volleyball freshman Marta Topor (Bogota, NJ / Bogota) were selected as the MSU Athletes of the Week for October 18.
Keegan registered 232 all-purpose yards and tied a single-game record for touchdown receptions as the No. 14 Red Hawks knocked off Buffalo State 35-20 for their 14th consecutive NJAC victory. Keegan had six receptions for 133 yards and added 99 yard more on three punt returns. He set up his first touchdown of 13 yards with a 37-yard punt return to the Buffalo State 28. His 54-yard run back led to the second MSU score and he added a 39-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown staking Montclair to a 21-6 halftime lead. He ended the day with a 26-yard touchdown reception. Keegan has 14 receptions for 263 yards this season and currently leads the NJAC in punt returns (23.8 ypr).
Topor helped Montclair State to its second straight NJAC victory as she posted a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs in the Red Hawks' 3-0 sweep of New Jersey City. Topor had four kills in the opening set as the Red Hawks held off set point before rallying for a 27-25 win and 1-0 lead in the match. She then added four kills and five digs in the third set as Montclair closed out the victory. Topor had 13 kills and nine digs in a four-set loss and seven kills and six digs versus Muhlenberg in a tri-match on Saturday. Topor currently ranks 12th in the NJAC in kills and is 13th in points scored.
