The Center for Academic Advising and Adult Learning (CAAAL) is pleased to recognize the excellent service and outstanding work in the area of academic advising of the recipients of Montclair State’s 2nd Annual Advising Awards. The 2009-2010 awardees, Academic Advisor (Primary Role): Ms. Tara Rienecker, Academic Advisor for Athletics and Faculty Advisor: Dr. Marilyn Tayler, Professor of Political Science and Law, were also considered for awards at the national level through the National Academic Advising Association’s (NACADA) annual awards program. For the 2nd straight year, the is prestigious program has recognized Montclair State, this year by awarding Dr. Tayler a 2010 Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Faculty Advisor.
In addition to these individual awards, the Center for Academic Advising and Adult Learning, along with Montclair State’s Office of Information Technology, was selected as NACADA’s 2010 Outstanding Advising Technology Innovation Award Winner. This award recognized Montclair’s unique Student Academic Monitoring Program (STAMP) which promotes vital communication between advisors and academic units to track the progress and ultimately impact the success of both academically high-risk and high-performing students. Montclair State University was selected as the only advising technology innovation winner to be honored with this award in the nationwide competition this year.
