Geraghty, Carroll Selected MSU Athletes of the Week for November 1

Montclair, NJ (11/1/10) - Men's soccer senior Larry Geraghty (Cranford, NJ / St. Benedict's Prep) and freshman field hockey midfielder Brittany Carroll (Kingston, NY / Rondout Valley) were named the MSU Athletes of the Week for November 1.

Geraghty earned NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after registering three points in the Red Hawks’ 3-1 NJAC Tournament opening round victory over Richard Stockton. After opening the week with a shot on goal in MSU’s 1-0 loss to Ramapo, he notched a goal and an assist in Montclair’s NJAC Tournament win over Stockton which propelled the four-time defending NJAC champion Red Hawks into a NJAC Tournament semifinal match-up with top-seeded TCNJ. Geraghty currently ranks tied for eighth in the NJAC in assists (5).

Carroll was named New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after helping the Red Hawks to a pair of wins tallying eight points. She opened the week by scoring a goal in the Red Hawks’ 4-1 NJAC win over Richard Stockton. Three days later, she registered three goals for her first career hat trick in MSU’s 4-1 non-conference victory over King’s. Carroll currently ranks tied for 10th in the NJAC in goals (8).
