Montclair, NJ (11/3/10) - Montclair State placed three players on the New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Conference Team released on Tuesday. Sophomore Rachel Senyszyn (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) was named to the Second Team while midfielder Katie Minervini (Oceanport, NJ / Shore Regional) and defender Stefani Elefther (Rivervale, NJ / Pascack Valley) were named Honorable Mention.
Senyszyn earns her second Second-Team accolade as she returned to the Red Hawks in 2010 after missing all of last season with an injury. She led the Red Hawks in scoring as she found the back of the net nine times while assisting on eight others. Senyszyn had a goal and two assists in her first game back as MSU downed St. John Fisher 4-2 in the season opener. She posted five points on two goals and an assist in a 7-0 win over CCNY and collected the game-winning goal in MSU's 1-0 victory at Rutgers-Camden on October 2. Senyszyn is ranked eighth in the NJAC in points (26) and assists and is 12th in goals scored.
Like Senyszyn, Minervini came back from an injury that sidelined her for most of the 2009 campaign. Appearing and starting 18 games this season, Minervini was third on the team in scoring with 12 points on five goals and two assists. She also scored in her first game back in the win against St. John Fisher and later recorded her first multiple-goal contest with two versus Rutgers-Newark in the Red Hawks 7-2 victory on September 29. Minervini had the game-tying goal against Vassar in a contest that Montclair would go on to win, 2-1.
Elefther becomes a two-time All-NJAC honoree with her selection. After missing the first four contests this year with injury, she played in the final 14 games, including 10 starts on defense.
