Avento Chosen NJAC Football Defensive Rookie of the Week for Fourth Time

Montclair, NJ (10/24/10) — Freshman linebacker Dan Avento (Montvale, NJ / Pascack Hills) earned his fourth New Jersey Athletic Conference Defensive Rookie of the Week honor on Sunday as the league released its weekly accolades.

Avento earns NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after helping the Red Hawks post a 27-22 NJAC win over Brockport. He recorded his second consecutive double-digit tackle game with 11 stops, including thee solo and one tackle for a loss. He also forced a fumble, had a fumble recovery, and notched an interception that he returned 16 yards for a touchdown after Brockport had closed within a point of the MSU lead. 

Avento currently ranks ninth in the NJAC in tackles with an average of 7.6 per game.
