Montclair, NJ (11/29/10) - Junior basketball stadnouts Andrew August (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan)and Jaime Ericson (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) were named MSU Athletes of the Week for November 29.
August was named NJAC Player of the Week after averaging 22.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting .667 from the field in a pair of victories for the Red Hawks. He opened the week by tallying 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while adding five rebounds and three assists in a 65-49 victory over Berkeley. Four days later, he notched a double-double 21 points and 12 rebounds, along with three assists and two blocks in an 89-74 non-conference road victory at Centenary for MSU’s third consecutive win. August currently ranks tied for third in the NJAC in scoring with an average of 18.3 points per game.
Ericson scored a game-high 22 points along with eight rebounds as Montclair State routed Cabrini 71-39 in its home opener on November 23. She scored 17 points in the second half, including six to open the period as Montclair extended its lead back to double digits after Carbini had closed within nine points. Ericson shot 8-of-16 from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range and added two blocked shots and five steals.
