You don’t have to get lost on the information superhighway! Did you know that Montclair State alumni are entitled to use Sprague Library? This is another benefit to being a Montclair State graduate. Sprague Library offers many books and periodicals, as well as access to online databases and periodical articles.
In the Library
Sprague Library’s book collections include reference and circulating books on academic subjects and fiction, and a small collection of children’s books. Books may be read in the Library, or alumni may register for book borrowing privileges (3 books for 28 days). Go to library.montclair.edu/services/bookborrowing.html for more information.
There is a comfortable seating area where a selection of magazines and newspapers is available for reading, such as New Jersey, New York, National Geographic, Architectural Digest, and Rolling Stone. In addition, the Library’s Café Diem offers coffee, soda, sandwiches, salads, and soups.
Sprague also is a Federal Depository Library. U.S. Government publications including books, journals, electronic resources, microfiche, and microfilm on thousands of topics are available in the Library or online at catalog.gpo.gov/
Alumni can access the catalog to look up a book, access many government documents online, access som of the free/public periodicals online - from anywhere - see list - http://library.montclair.edu/services/alumni.html.
Alumni can also borrow music CD's from the Library's extensive collection.
In addition, Librarians are here to help. Reference librarian services are available, either in person, by calling 973-655-4291, or by clicking Ask a Librarian on the Library’s web site (library.montclair.edu). Librarians are available to assist with questions regarding the Library’s resources and services.
Alumni can also access the EBSCO Academic Search Premier database. Designed for the research needs of the post-college professional, this database provides full text for more than 3,350 journals as well as indexing and abstracting for more than 8,200 journals. The database offers information in nearly every area of academic study including biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, psychology, religion & theology, and more. Academic Search Alumni Edition also includes valuable peer-reviewed full text journals, offering critical information from many sources. To access this database, please call the Office of Alumni Relations at 973-655-4141 to obtain an Alumni ID access code.
