East Stroudsburg, PA (2/5/11) – Junior Jon Tancer (Montville, NJ / Montville) won the shot put pacing four MSU competitors in the Top 10 while senior Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Gloucester) finished second in the 55 meter hurdles and sophomore Niyi Adenugba (North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick)
third in the high jump as the Montclair State men’s indoor track and
field teams participated in the DeSchriver Invitational at East
Stroudsburg University on Saturday.
Tancer led the field of 43 competitors as he registered a winning
throw of 14.86 meters. Mario Morrison-Bird was sixth at 14.01 meters
with James Luginsland (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) and Dave Helterbran (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) placing eighth and ninth, respectively at 13.62 and 13.36 meters.
Brown posted a time of 7.80 seconds, missing the NCAA provisional
mark by three one-hundreths of a second. Brown had registered an NCAA
mark in each of the previous two weeks and is currently fourth on the
list of top performers in Division III this season.
Brown also placed ninth in the 400 meters recording a time of 52.55 seconds.
Adenugba leaped 6-feet, 2-inches (1.88 meters) for his third-place finish in the high jump. Senior Mario Morrison-Bird (West Orange, NJ / West Orange)
placed sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.77 meters
(45-ffet, 2 ¼-inches). Adenugba also finished 14th in the 55 hurdles
(8.47 seconds).
The Red Hawks return to Pennsylvania for their next meet on
Saturday, February 12 as they compete in the CTC Indoor Championships.
