The East Coast Premiere of "Blush" will be held in the Montclair State University Alexander Kasser Theater, Nov. 10-13.
Described as a cross between dance icon Trisha Brown and Kung Fu movie legend John Woo, Belgian choreographer Wim Vandekeybus and his company Ultima Vez create confrontational and intensely physical works that push dancers and technology beyond their limits. An explosive synthesis of live action, film and music, his latest work BLUSH explores love in all its dangerous and exhilarating splendor. Featuring a wild rock soundtrack by David Eugene Edwards of the bands Woven Hand and 16 Horsepower, BLUSH is set against a flickering backdrop of large scale film sequences. Dancers dive from the stage into the screen and seamlessly reappear on film, transformed into water nymphs in a submerged netherworld--creating a production that seethes with emotion, energy and raw sensuality.
