Field Hockey Earns Academic Honors from NFHCA

Montclair, NJ (3/11/11) – The Montclair State field hockey team was among the schools honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for the team's academic achievements.

The Red Hawks were recipients of a 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Team Award after posting a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better during the Fall 2010.  In addition, nine student-athletes were named to the 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Squad for achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the Fall 2010 semester. 

Seniors Deana Hagel (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex) and Rebekah Keller (Berlin, NJ / Eastern) led the group of individuals as they were honored for the fourth straight season.

Joining Hagel and Keller were Jessica Bernstein (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt), Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ / Boonton), Diana Colombo (Westampton, NJ / Rancocas Valley), Melissa Flaherty (Fishkill, NY / John Jay), Christina McGugan (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson), Jessica Murphy (West Long Branch, NJ / Shore Regional) and Sierra Rauchbauch (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick).
