Morrison-Bird Key Men's Outdoor Track at Roadrunner Invitational

Mahwah, NJ (4/2/11) – Senior Mario Morrison Bird (West Orange, NJ / West Orange) finished second in both the shot put and discus and added a third Top 10 finish in the hammer throw to help the Montclair State outdoor track and field team to a sixth-place finish in the 2nd Annual Roadrunner Invitational held at Ramapo College on Saturday.

Sophomore Niyi Adenugba (North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick) was fourth in the 110 hurdles and long jump as the Red Hawks totaled 49 points.

Morrison-Bird led five Red Hawks in the Top 11 in the shot put as he registered a best throw of 14.88 meters. Jon Tancer (Montville, NJ / Montville) was third at 14.72 meters, while James Luginsland (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan), Rhema Boyo (West Orange, NJ / West Orange) and Dave Helterbran (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) were ninth, 10th and 11th respectively.

Morrison-Bird would record a distance of 44.52 meters in the discus to place second while Boyo was fourth at 41.79 meters. He closed out his day with a distance of 41.56 meters in the hammer throw.

Joseph Gingerelli (Wood-Ridge, NJ / Wood-Ridge) was second in the javelin (58.29 meters) and Joshua Reyes (Bayonne, NJ / Bayonne) was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.36. John Frank Migliore (Bloomfield, NJ / Bloomfield) finished 13th in the 100 meters.

Montclair State returns to action next Saturday, April 9 as they compete in the Rowan University Open held in Glassboro, NJ.
