Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past Sage, 19-1

Montclair, NJ (4/9/11) – Junior midfielder Maggie Fallon (Cherry Hill, NJ / Camden Catholic) scored four times and added two assists while senior midfielder Kayla Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) scored four goals as Montclair State cruised to a 19-1 victory over Sage in Skyline Conference women's lacrosse action at Sprague Field on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Meghan Spitzer (Mount Olive, NJ / Mount Olive) tallied a goal and six assists as the Red Hawks (8-3) won for the seventh time in their last eight outings while remaining unbeaten in the league at 6-0.

Junioir midfielder Ginelle Butler (Malta, NY / Ballston Spa) had the lone goal for the Gators, who fell to 0-5 both overall and in league play.

Spitzer set up the first two goals of the game as Montclair netted the first 13 of the contest. Henderson scored 50 seconds in and Fallon followed 49 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Henderson added the next two as the lead grew to four goals with 24:12 and Stephanie Cantillo (Clifton, NJ / Clifton) made it 5-0 just over a minute later.

Kelly Schoneveld (Denville, NJ / Morris Knolls) added two first-half goals to push the lead to 9-0 and Fallon recorded the first and last of the final four tallies in the opening period as Montclair led 13-0 at the break.

Sage would get on the board early in the first half as Butler registered her ninth goal of the season, a virtual breakaway with 27:48 on the clock. After Henderson got her final goal the game, Spitzer assisted on the next four, including back-to-back goals by Cora Delfini (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt) inside 15 minutes for an 18-1 advantage.

Kailee Beal (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) had a two goals, assist, eight draws, four ground balls and two caused turnovers for MSU while Delfini ended with three goals and assist. Krissa Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) posted a goal and three assists. Goalkeeper Tiffani Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) stopped five shots in the victory.

Courtney Reed (Mechanicsville, NY / Mechanicsville) made four saves for Sage.

The Red Hawks are now off until Saturday, April 16 as they trave lto Riverdale, NY to face the College of Mount St. Vincent at 1:00 pm.
