Montclair, NJ (4/11/11) – Junior lefthander Sean Hille (Edison, NJ / St. Joseph's (Metuchen)) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. Hille is the third different MSU hurler to earn accolades this season joining sophomore Zach Brown (New Vernon, NJ / Morristown), who was named NJCBA Pitcher of the Week in March, and freshman lefty Dylan Papa (South Plainfield, NJ / South Plainfield) selected NJAC Rookie Pitcher last week.
Hille tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout striking out eight and walking two as Montclair State blanked Ramapo College, 9-0 in Mahwah on Friday. It was the second straight season that Hille threw a complete game against the Roadrunners and had recorded 12 of the 27 outs on ground balls in his 100-pitch performance. The only blemishes on Hille's scorecard in the game came in the third inning on a ground ball that was ruled a base hit and a blooped single to lead off the ninth.
It was Hille's first career shutout and fourth complete game.
Earlier in the week, Hille tossed a scoreless eighth inning striking out the side as Montclair knocked off Rensselaer on the road, 7-4.
Hill is currently 3-1 this season with a 3.06 ERA. In 35.1 innings pitched, Hille has struck out 37 and walked only nine. He is currently tied for 10th in the league in wins and fifth in strikeouts.
