Men's Outdoor Track and Field Takes Part in Army's West Point Open

West Point, NY (4/16/11) – Senior Mario Morrison-Bird (West Orange, NJ / West Orange) finished fifth in the hammer throw and eighth in the discus as the Montclair State men’s outdoor track and field team took part in the West Point Open  at the United States Military Academy on Saturday afternoon.

Morrison-Bird had a best throw of 51.94 meters in the hammer and came back for a distance of 37.50 in the discus. James Luginsland (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) was 11th in the hammer throw and Dave Helterbran (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) placed fifth in the shot put with a distance of 13.46 meters.

On the track, Joshua Reyes (Bayonne, NJ / Bayonne) finished seventh in the 400 meter hurdles (1:01.32). Alex Fortoul (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ / Hasbrouck Heights) was ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:22.90.

The Red Hawks are scheduled to compete next at the All-American Meet at East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, PA on Saturday, April 23.
