Gearity Selected NJAC Outdoor Track Rookie of the Week for Second Time

Montclair, NJ (5/2/11) – Freshman Heather Gearity (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Week for the second time on Monday.

Gearity earns NJAC Outdoor Rookie honors for the second time this season after traveling to Philadelphia to compete at the historic Penn Relays. She placed 25th in a field of 55 competitors in the 400 meter hurdles with a Division III national best and NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:01.21. She also was a member of the Red Hawks’ 4x100 meter relay which placed 23rd in a field of 55 teams with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 49.64. Gearity also competed as a member of MSU’s 4x200 meter relay which posted a school-record time of 1:44.08.
