Montclair, NJ (5/3/11) – Montclair State, which captured its third consecutive Skyline Conference championship last Saturday, placed seven players on the Skyline Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Team released on Tuesday.
Junior attack Tyler Meth (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge), the Skyline Tournament MVP, heads the list of selections which includes senior Robert Sinicola (North Caldwell, NJ / West Essex) on attack, midfielder Robert Glander (Vernon, NJ / Vernon) and defenseman Anthony Dzienkiewicz (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial). Sophomore Jack Skeels(Roseland, NJ / West Essex), defenseman Dustin Malaszuk (Clifton, NJ / Clifton) and goalkeeper Mark Glander (Vernon, NJ / Vernon) were chosen to the Second Team.
Meth collects his third straight First-Team selection. Meth currently leads the team with 26 goals this season and is second overall in points with 37. Ranked seventh in the Skyline Conference in goals per game (1.62), he was also named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week on Monday after winning his second tournament MVP in the last three years as he scored three goals in the title game victory over Farmingdale State. Meth also became the 13th player in program history to record 100 career goals and he is currently seventh all time with 117.
Sinicola earned his second consecutive First-Team accolade. The team's leading scorer with 48 points, Sinicola has registered 29 assists along with 19 goals while also posting 38 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. Sinicola, who had two assists in the Skyline Championship Game, is currently ranked second in the league in assists per game and game-winning goals and he is third in the conference in points per contest.
Robert Glander get his first honor. Glander recorded 44 faceoff wins and 38 ground balls from his midfielder position. Glander also scored once and assisted on two other goals while coming up with big faceoff efforts like his 7-of-11 performance with three ground balls against Kean in Montclair State's 9-8 win that helped the Red Hawks clinch the No. 2 seed in the Skyline Tournament.
Dzienkiewicz is now a four-time All-Skyline selection, the last three years on First Team. The 2008 Rookie of the Year, Dzienkiewicz anchored one of the top defensive units in the league as MSU allowed just five goals per contest in league play. He is second on the squad with 56 ground balls and has forced a team-best 36 turnovers while also winning 17-of-31 faceoffs.
Malaszuk, Skeels and Mark Glander each earn their first Skyline honor.
Skeels, the team's fourth-leading scorer has 16 goals and four assists this season along with 29 ground balls and three forced turnovers. He is third on the team in goals. Malaszuk is third on the Red Hawks in ground balls with 42 and is second to Dzienkiewicz in forced turnovers with 24. Mark Glander is third in the Skyline in goals against average (7.64) and save percentage (.566). He leads Montclair State in ground balls with 61, a figure that also ranks fifth in the Skyline. Glander posted two huge performances in the Skyline Tournament stopping seven shots, including one with two seconds left in Montclair's 4-3 win over Maritime College in the semifinals. He then made 13 saves in the 9-7 championship game victory versus Farmingdale State.
