On May 1, students from Montclair State University's School of Business (SBUS) teamed up with hundreds of grade school-age entrepreneurs to participate in New Jersey's first Lemonade Day, a national program that teaches children how to start, own, and operate their own business by building and running a lemonade stand.
With guidance from the SBUS students, groups of children from the YMCA of Montclair, Boys and Girls Clubs of Newark, Newark public schools, the Bradford School in Montclair, and several other community partners, learned all they needed to know to run their lemonade stands and participate in Lemonade Day.
The event was a great success with students all over Essex county participating. The students were taught to spend a little, save a little, and share a little, so after using their profits to cover their expenses, they kept a portion, and donated a portion to local charities.
