Montclair, NJ (5/9/11) – Junior midfielder Cora Delfini (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt) and freshman midfielder Kelly Schoneveld (Denville, NJ / Morris Knolls) earned a pair of honors for Montclair State on Monday as the two were named New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Delfini earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after notching eight points in a 1-1 week of conference play for the Red Hawks. She opened the week by recording four goals and two assists for six points, while adding three draw controls and five ground balls in an 18-5 NJAC victory over Rutgers-Camden. She wrapped up the regular season by tallying a goal, an assist, three draw controls, and one ground ball in a 12-9 NJAC defeat to Rowan. Delfini currently ranks fourth in the NJAC in points per game (4.28).
Schoneveld earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season after notching five points and 10 draw controls in a 1-1 week of conference play for the Red Hawks. She opened the week with two goals and one assist for three points, while adding five draw controls and two caused turnovers versus Rutgers-Camden. She wrapped up the regular season with two goals, five draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers in the loss to Rowan. Schoneveld currently ranks ninth in the NJAC in ground balls per game (2.17).
