Gingerelli, Morrison-Bird Lead Men's Outdoor Track's All-NJAC Honorees

Montclair, NJ (5/12/11) – Seniors Joseph Gingerelli (Wood-Ridge, NJ / Wood-Ridge) and Mario Morrison-Bird (West Orange, NJ / West Orange) highlight the Montclair State selections on the 2011 New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Conference Team.

League all-conference honors were based on the results of the NJAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships which were conducted at Ramapo College on May 7. All special awards were selected via a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Gingerelli captured the league crown in the javelin as he improved his standing on the NCAA provisional qualifying list with a throw of 61.52 meters. He moved from 16th to 10th on the provisional list which will hopefully include him in the field for this month’s NCAA Division III Championships which will be held at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH.

Meanwhile Morrison-Bird excelled at three different throws during the NJAC meet as he placed second in all three events. He posted a distance of 51.70 meters in the hammer throw and then had a toss of 45.39 meters in the discus. Morrison-Bird closed out his afternoon by posting a distance of 15.16 meters in the shot put.

Sophomore Niyi Adenugba (North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick) finished third in the 110 hurdles as he posted a time of 16.48 seconds while James Hamilton III (Somerset, NJ / Franklin) placed third in the high jump with a top height of 1.73 meters.
