Baseball Clipped by Salisbury in Final Road Game, 3-2

Salisbury, MD (5/12/11) – The Montclair State baseball team dropped its final road contest of the year as the Red Hawks were clipped by Salisbury University 3-2 at the SU Baseball Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Red Hawks fell to 21-18 with the loss and will close out their 2011 schedule on Sunday, May 15 with a doubleheader against Ithaca College at Yogi Berra Stadium. First pitch of Senior Day is scheduled for Noon and Montclair will honor its four seniors on this year's squad - Michael Boggi (Towaco, NJ / Montville), Jay Bionde (Pompton Plains, NJ / Pequannock), Mike Ercolano (Vernon, NJ / Vernon) and Andrew Himmelfarb (Upper Nyack, NY / Nyack).

Junior catcher Kevin Bond (Cedar Grove, NJ / Cedar Grove) gave the Red Hawks as 1-0 lead in the second inning as he blasted his second home run of the year to lead off the inning. Salisbury would answer in its half with a two-out, run scoring double.

Sophomore leftfielder Matt Moreno (Park Ridge, NJ / Park Ridge) gave MSU a 2-1 lead in the fourth as his single back through the middle of the infield scored Boggi. Again the Sea Gulls (29-11) tied the game in its half and took lead in the sxith inning.

MSU would put the tying runs on in both the seventh and ninth innings, however they could not come up with the equalizing run.

Lefthander Sean Hille (Edison, NJ / St. Joseph's (Metuchen)) took the loss for the Red Hawks falling to 5-4.
