MSU Places Five on IWLCA Boardwalk All-Region Team

Montclair, NJ (5/20/11) – Senior Kayla Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) was named First Team and led five Red Hawks on the Boardwalk All-Region Team as the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) announced its All-Region Teams on Thursday.

Senior defender Sara Watson (Medford Lakes, NJ / Shawnee), junior midfielder Cora Delfini (New Egypt, NJ / New Egypt) and sophomores Kailee Beal (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) and Tiffani Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) were named to the Second Team as a total of 224 players were selected to the seven All-Region squads.

The five players played a major role in helping Montclair State to 13-6 record and the Skyline Conference regular-season and tournament championships for the fifth time in six years. Montclair also qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship for the fourth time in program history. MSU fell to No. 6 Franklin & Marshall in the opening round.

Kayla Henderson collects her first All-Region honors. The Skyline Conference Player of the Year, she was also named First-Team in both the Skyline Conference and NJAC. Henderson led Montclair State in goals 69, the second-highest single-season total in program history along with 78 points (second on the team). In addition Henderson also had nine assists, 29 ground balls, 35 draws and 16 caused turnovers. She is ranked second in the NJAC in goals per game and is ranked fifth in points per contest while leading the conference in game-winning goals with seven.

Delfini makes two straight All-Region honors. The team leader in points scored with 79, Delfini scored 60 goals, third-best single-season total and added 52 draw controls, 27 casued turnovers and 19 assists. She is fourth in the NJAC in points per game and caused turnovers per contest while also ranking fifth in ground balls per game, sixth in assists and seventh in goals.

Beal is also a two-time All-Region honoree. Beal leads the NJAC in draws with a Montclair State single-season record 86 while also scoring 45 goals and recording 20 assists, 35 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.

Watson is honored for the first time in her career. One of the main components of the Montclair State defensive unit that ranks near the top of the NJAC in several defensive categories, she has recorded 38 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers. Watson ranked eighth in the NJAC in ground balls per game and 11th in casued turnovers.

Tiffani Henderson joins Delfini and Beal with multiple All-Region selections. Beal posted a 9.11 goals against average this season and stopped 163 shots.
