Montclair State Personnel to Receive National Advising Awards

Two members of the Montclair State University community have been recognized by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) for outstanding academic advising.

Gina Balestracci, academic administrator at the John J. Cali School of Music, has been selected as an Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit recipient in the Academic Advising – Primary Role category.

Venezia Michalsen, assistant professor of Justice Studies, has been selected as an Outstanding New Advisor Certificate of Merit recipient in the Faculty Academic Advising category.

The goal of NACADA is to promote quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to enhance the educational development of students. NACADA’s membership has grown to over 10,000 faculty, professional advisors, administrators, counselors, and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal, and vocational needs of students.

Balestracci and Michalsen will be honored and presented with their awards at NACADA’s Annual Conference this fall in Denver, Colorado.
