Montclair, NJ (6/1/11) – Senior Kayla Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) was one of the 109 seniors selected to player in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) North/South Game. The 2011 North-South games (Division I, II and III) will take place at the Champions' Cup, held at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa., on June 11. The event will precede the IWLCA All-American banquet, which will take place at the Crown Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa., later that evening.
Henderson played a major role in helping Montclair State to 13-6 record and the Skyline Conference regular-season and tournament championships for the fifth time in six years. Montclair also qualified for the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship for the fourth time in program history. MSU fell to No. 6 Franklin & Marshall in the opening round.
Henderson, an IWLCA First-Team Boardwalk Region selection, was chosen as the Skyline Conference Player of the Year and landed spots on the First-Team in both the Skyline and New Jersey Athletic Conferences.
Henderson led Montclair State in goals 69, the second-highest single-season total in program history along with 78 points (second on the team). In addition Henderson also had nine assists, 29 ground balls, 35 draws and 16 caused turnovers. She is ranked second in the NJAC in goals per game and is ranked fifth in points per contest while leading the conference in game-winning goals with seven.
The selection to the IWLCA North/South Game caps off an outstanding career for Henderson, who finished third all time in goals with 171 and sixth in points at 197. She also set the career record for draw controls with 155.
