Graduate theater student TeriLyn Brown, with assistance from Information Technology, has launched MSU Theatre Review, an e-magazine based on the research that has gone into the upcoming production of Euripides’ "The Trojan Women" in Memorial Auditorium April 11- 17 at 7:30 p.m., with a 1 p.m. matinee April 15 and a 2 p.m. performance on April 17.
"I took my cue from a magazine published by Anne Cattaneo, a famous dramaturg at Lincoln Center Theater," said Brown. "The most overt function of the dramaturg is to write up information for the program. But ideally, the dramaturg works very early on with the director in defining the play’s concept."
For this show, Brown functioned as a sounding board for the director; an "image" researcher of war, violence and refugee camps; information researcher of men and women in the Bronze Age; text researcher, finding the best English translation from modern Greek; and production research on past productions of the show.
