Students can earn their MBA in as little as 24 months while attending classes two evenings per week at our Montclair, NJ campus or in as little as 18 months while attending our Saturday MBA program at our satellite location at Brookdale Community College. With its balanced emphasis on academic rigor, and practical market relevance, the new MBA program will build a foundation for future career growth and success.
A cornerstone of our new program is the enriched cohort experience. Students progress in lockstep through the core curriculum, interacting closely with experienced professionals from a wide variety of industries. These relationships enhance the academic experience and strengthen students’ intellectual and professional development. The cohort structure lets students know their course schedules in advance, so that it is easy to plan their program to fit their schedule.
Our traditional curriculum was transformed from full-semester courses (3 credits) to a number of half semester courses (1.5 credits) allowing for a broader portfolio of core and elective offerings resulting in a more dynamic curricular process. This broader portfolio includes core courses in topics such as project management and corporate social responsibility which provide the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the global marketplace.
We’ve shortened the length of our core MBA, added foundation courses and a review component based on prospective students’ educational backgrounds. Students with undergraduate degrees in business are waived from foundation courses, allowing them to complete the General MBA with just 37.5 credits. Students without the prerequisite business knowledge will complete up to 12 credits of business foundation courses, allowing them to earn the General MBA in 49.5 credits. To enhance the academic experience, students can pursue up to two areas of concentration by completing an additional 6-12 credits of elective courses in Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems and/or Marketing.
As a signature component of our new MBA program, we have added an international experience where all MBA students will participate in a 7 to 10 day international study trip to one of the world’s dynamic markets. The international trip promises to be an exciting and rewarding experience which combines business, political and cultural components that will further strengthen students’ knowledge of and sensitivity to the global marketplace.
To gain firsthand knowledge from some of the most successful business leaders in the metropolitan New York/New Jersey region, an exciting executive speaker series will connect the classroom education to real life experience.
The Montclair State University School of Business continues to be accredited by AACSB International, which is the highest standard of accreditation for business schools worldwide. Only 620 schools of business, or less than 5% worldwide, have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in management education.
While the official launch of the new MBA program is January 2012, students registering for courses in Fall 2011 will get an early start in the program.
