Field Hockey Chosen Third in NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll

Montclair, NJ (8/15/11) – The Montclair State field hockey team was picked to finish third in the 2011 New Jersey Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll released on Monday.

The Red Hawks finished behind Rowan and defending conference champion The College of New Jersey, which received five and two-place votes, respectively. Kean was fourth behind MSU with William Paterson, “Dark Horse” selection Richard Stockton sixth and Ramapo rounding out the poll..

Last season, Montclair State finished 11-7 overall, 3-3 in the NJAC. The Red Hawks return sophomore Brittany Carroll (Kingston, NY / Rondout Valley), who finished second on the team in scoring in 2010 with 11 goals. Montclair also returns team captains Chelsea Keelen (Tinton Falls, NJ / Middletown South), Kelly Churchill (Newton, NJ / Newton) and junior Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ / Boonton).

Montclair opens its season on Thursday, September 1 when they travel to St. David’s, PA to face Eastern University.
