Bosland Chosen NJAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week

Montclair, NJ (9/5/11) – Junior goalkeeper Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ / Boonton) was selected as the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week as the league announced its first awards of the season on Monday. It is the sixth career honor for Bosland, who was chosen four times during her rookie campaign of 2009 and once last season.

Bosland played a key role in Montclair's 2-0 start, the eighth time in the last 10 years that the Red Hawks have opened up with two straight victories. Bosland came up big with nine saves, including two consecutive shots in the closing minutes as MSU opened the year with a 2-1 upset win at No. 9 Eastern University. She followed that up with her fifth career shutout stopping six shots in a 4-0 home win versus Rensselaer

Bosland currently leads the NJAC in goals against average (0.50 GAA) and is ranked third in saves per game (7.5).

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, September 7 as they host Union College at Sprague Field beginning at 7:00 pm.
