As explained at the International Student Orientation, we will
complete the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System)
registration process after classes begin and a 2nd I-20 will be
prepared for you. You are required to pick up this 2nd I-20 by
attending a SEVIS workshop.
All students were initially issued either a 'Initial Attendance I-20' or a 'Transfer Pending I-20' or a 'Initial Attendance-Change of Status'. Once you are registered for classes here at Montclair State University, we will submit your registration information to SEVIS as required by federal regulations. Upon registration, your entry into the US, or transfer from another school, or change of status request will be completed and will result in the issuance of a 'Continued Attendance I-20'.
All students are required to have with them at all times, the first MSU I-20 and this 2nd 'Continued Attendance I-20'.
In order to receive this 2nd I-20 you are absolutely required to attend a one hour SEVIS workshop where you will also receive important information on maintaining your F-1 student visa status and you will be able to ask any questions you might have regarding your status.
