Men's and Women's Soccer Sweep Rutgers-Newark; No. 10 Field Hockey Remains Unbeaten

Montclair, NJ (9/28/11) - The Montclair State men's and women's soccer teams swept their New Jersey Athletic Conference contests with Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday while the No. 10 ranked field hockey team remained unbeaten with a 3-1 triumph against Ramapo College.

Sophomore Dan Mendoza scored the game-winning goal with 3:38 remaining as men's soccer slipped past Rutgers-Newark, 2-1 at MSU Soccer Park. Later in the evening, freshman Francesca Gibson and senior Christina DeMartinis each collected a pair of goals as women's soccer cruised past Rutgers-Newark, 6-1.

At Sprague Field, the Red Hawks field hockey squad upped its record to 10-0 with their win against the Roadrunners. Sophomore Brittany Carroll had two goals while goalkeeper Megan Bosland stopped five shots, including a tremendous blocker save on a penalty stroke late in the contest.
