SIROM Scientific Solutions, an incubator company at Montclair State University, was named one of six winners in the third annual Mid-Atlantic Green Product and Services Competition, organized by the New Jersey Technology Council (NJTC).
The company specializes in developing cost-effective, environmentally friendly solutions to environmental contamination problems.
“This is a very good forum for us because we are looking for manufacturing and marketing partners and it gives us a good opportunity to showcase our product,” said Dibyendu “Dibs” Sarkar, who is in charge of scientific operations at SIROM and is also professor and director of the PhD program in Environmental Management at Montclair State.
SIROM was selected for a green treatment process it developed which cleans storm water, industrial process water, and wastewater so that it can be discharged without harming the environment.
The company will participate at the NJTC Clean Energy Summit in Princeton, New Jersey on Tuesday, October 4, where the 2011 first, second, and third place winners of the competition will be announced.
Seventeen companies from throughout the region entered the competition, which was sponsored by Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G), the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, and SorinRoyerCooper LLC.
