Montclair, NJ (10/4/11) – Freshman Melanie Greco (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) scored a pair of goals while sophomore Jessica Kiniery (Branchburg, NJ / Somerville)
set a school record with four assists as Montclair State rolled to its
third straight victory blanking City College of New York, 8-0 on
Tuesday.
Junior Rachel Senyszyn (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) and sophomore Allison Wacker (Stockholm, NJ / Wallkill Valley) each
had a goal and assist as the Red Hawks upped their record to 7-4 this
season outshooting the Beavers, 35-6 in the contest.
Kiniery assisted on four straight goals as she broke the record
for held by Holly Young, Linda Hadshinow and Lori Snyder for assists
in a one contest. Hadshinow set the record in 1991 versus Upsala with
Young and Snyder equaling the mark versus Manhattanville and Bloomfield
College, respectively in the 1993 season.
Senyszyn and Wacker combined on the first two goals as the Red
Hawks outshot CCNY 18-3 in the first half taking a 2-0 lead. Senyszyn
put Montclair on the board at 29:22 off an assist from Wacker, who
added to the lead seven minutes later finishing off a feed from Kiniery
and Senyszyn.
Kiniery collected a second assist as Stephanie Barbulescu (Franklin, NJ / Pope John XXIII)
headed in a ball for her fourth goal of the year. Greco pushed the
lead 5-0 with two goals 13 seconds apart in the 53rd minute and Kaila Fasano’s (Westwood, NJ / Westwood) goal at 67:34 gave Montclair a 6-0 advantage.
Alyssa Diacheysn (Nutley, NJ / Nutley) scored an unassisted tally at the 7:35 mark before Christina DeMartinis (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon)
closed out the scoring less than two minutes later finishing off a feed
from Lorena Hincapie (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech.
Goalkeepers Jessica Belmont (Hamilton, NJ / Steinert) made four saves in the first 62 minutes before Amber Martinez (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) came on for a scoreless 28 minutes as MSU registered its second straight and fourth shutout of the year.
Montclair State returns to action on Saturday, October 8 as they
travel to Pomona, NJ to face Richard Stockton at 1:00 pm in an NJAC
matchup.
