Montclair, NJ (10/12/11) – Montclair State pitchers Jamie Miller (Spotswood, NJ / St. John Vianney) and Briana Rossi (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany) were among the athletes named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athlete Team.
Over 4,000 student-athletes representing 707 different
academic institutions were named as a 2011 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete. The
award is given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50
grade point average or higher during the 2010-11 academic year.
Miller, who was a member of the NJAC All-Academic Team last year, posted a 10-5 mark with a 2.83 ERA last season while Rossi logged several relief appearances as the duo helped the Red Hawks to a share of the NJAC regular-season championship and berth in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. Montclair finished the year at 27-12, including a 14-4 mark in the NJAC.
This year’s total of 4,338 honorees bested last year’s total by over 30 student-athletes. The membership category with the most participating institutions this year was Division III with 168, while high school led the way in total honorees with 1,160.
