Selinsgrove, PA (10/12/11) – Senior forward Devin McNamara (Mount Royal, NJ / Gloucester Catholic) collected a hat trick along with an assist while sophomore Brittany Carroll (Kingston, NY / Rondout Valley)
added a goal and assist as No. 7 Montclair State scored the final seven
goals to remain unbeaten with a 7-1 victory over Susquehanna University
on Wednesday evening.
Junior Michelle Hagel (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex) recorded a pair of assists as the Red Hawks erased an early 1-0 deficit to improve to 14-0 on the year.
The Red Hawks fell behind quickly as the Crusaders (3-9) scored on the first shot of the game. Danielle Waleko put home a pass from Ally Bradley off a penalty corner 96 seconds into the contest. Susquehanna would hold on to that early 1-0 advantage for the next 15-plus minutes before Montclair found the back of the cage three times in a 2:58 span.
McNamara tied the game at 17:05 as Hagel picked up the assist knotting the game at 1-1. Carroll then set up McNamara 1:23 later to give Montclair the lead for good and then added a goal of her own at 20:02 as Montclair State grabbed a 3-1 hafltime lead.
In the second half, Jennifer Tafro (Little Falls, NJ / Passaic Valley) scored off McNamara's assist increasing the MSU lead to three. McNamara collected the hat trick at 46:58 to push the lead to 5-1. Jess Hopkins (Mullica Hill, NJ / Clearview Regional) notched her second goal of the year on a penalty stroke with 10:16 remaining before Calli Lowe (Barrington, NJ / Haddonfield) completed the scoring with her second goal with 49 seconds left.
Goalkeeper Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ / Boonton) stopped three shots for 40th career victory (2nd all time).
Montclair State outshot Susquehanna 17-6 with the Crusaders holding an 8-6 edge in penalty corners.
