Montclair, NJ (10/16/11) – Senior punt returner Dan Keegan (Fairfield, NJ / Fairfield) was chosen as the NJAC Special Team's Player of the Week on Sunday. He became the third different Red Hawk to win the award this season and marked the fourth time in six weeks this year that Montclair claimed that honor from the conference.
Keegan earned the honor after helping No. 7 MSU stand
as the only unbeaten NJAC team with a 20-0 conference win over rival
William Paterson. On his first touch of the game, the reigning NJAC
Special Teams Player of the Year returned a punt 53 yards to the WPU
26-yard line. On his very next attempt, he produced a 44-yard punt
return which set up the Red Hawks’ first touchdown.
Keegan, who produced 97 total punt return yards on just two
attempts, currently leads the NJAC in punt return average (23.0).
