Montclair, NJ (10/31/11) - Sophomore libero Kaitlyn Irwin (Cranford, NJ / Cranford) became the second straight Red Hawks to earn weekly honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference on Monday as she was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Irwin averaged 5.42 digs per set in three matches for Montclair State as the Red Hawks closed out the regular season last week. She opened the week with 15 digs along with one assist and one service aces in a loss to first-place Richard Stockton on Thursday. Two days later, she posted back-to-back 25-dig contests as the Red Hawks split their tri-match beating Manhattanville, 3-1 and falling to Centenary in five sets.
Irwin is currently ranked seventh in the NJAC in digs with 3.69 per set.
