Four Montclair State University School of Business (SBUS) faculty members received Bright Idea Awards for their publications at a ceremony held at Middlesex County College on October 21. The Bright Idea Awards are presented to the top 10 research papers published by New Jersey business school faculty each year.

SBUS faculty members Agatha E. Jeffers, associate professor, Accounting, Law, and Taxation, and Marion Mogielnicki, adjunct professor, Accounting, Law, and Taxation received the award in the Legal Studies category for their paper, “The Line Between Illegality and Unethical Behavior in the Goldman Sachs Subprime Mortgage Securities Case.”

Susana Yu, associate professor, Economics and Finance, and Richard Lord, professor, Economics and Finance, received the award in the Finance category for their paper, “The Hot- Growth Companies: How Well Do Analysts Predict Their Performance?”

These two papers were among the top 10 manuscripts from more than 100 publications listed in the volume, Publications of New Jersey’s Business Faculty, a collection of research works that were published in 2010.

The Bright Idea Awards are sponsored by the Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University and the New Jersey Policy Research organization (NJPRO) Foundation, the public policy research affiliate of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA). Each year, these organizations present awards for the best research published by the business faculty at New Jersey's colleges and universities.
