Tobie Chosen NJAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for Second Time

Montclair, NJ (12/5/11) - Freshman Melissa Tobie (Elizabeth, NJ / Roselle Catholic) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time on Monday.

Tobie earns the honor again after averaging 19.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game in a pair of conference contests for the Red Hawks. In the first NJAC game of her collegiate career, she produced 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, while adding six rebounds and three assists in a 73-72 road defeat at Rutgers-Newark. Three days later, she tallied a game-high 21 points on a 8-of-13 shooting from the floor, while adding eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and three blocks in a 76-67 NJAC road defeat at Richard Stockton.

Tobie, who shot a combined .636 (14-of-22) in her first two career NJAC contests, currently ranks third in the NJAC in scoring (18.3 points per game).
