Tobie Earns Third NJAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week Honors

Montclair, NJ (12/19/11) - Freshman forward Melissa Tobie (Elizabeth, NJ / Roselle Catholic) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. It is the third time this season that Tobie claimed the league's weekly accolade.

Tobie earns NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the third time in five weeks of selections after averaging 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game in a 2-0 week of non-conference play for the Red Hawks. She opened the week by tallying 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals, and two blocks in a 70-51 victory over New Paltz. Five days later, she helped MSU extend its winning-streak to three games by producing 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in a 77-76 road win at Gwynedd-Mercy.

Tobie currently ranks third in the NJAC in scoring with an average of 17.1 points per game.
