Gearity finished second in the pentathlon as she competed at the
Mountain Hawk Multi Invite at Lehigh University on Friday. Gearity
bested her previous high mark of 3,095 points as she totaled 3,133
points in the five-event competition. She is currently ranked second in
the nation in the pentathlon.
Gearity, who boasted personal best marks in four of the five
events, finished third in each of the first three events. In the 60
hurdles, she ran 9.74 seconds to eclipse her previous mark of 9.77 set
last weekend at the Gotham Cup. After leaping 1.49 meters in the high
jump, she threw 8.38 meters in the shot put for another personal best.
After earning 1,795 points in the first three events, she placed
fourth in the long jump with a personal best 5.02 meters. Gearity
wrapped up the pentathlon by winning the 800 meters with a personal best
time of 2:23.78.
Gearity is currently ranked in the Top 35 in four different events this season - pentathlon (No. 2), 400 meters (No. 15), 800 meters (No. 35) while also being part of the 4x400 relay that is ranked 11th overall.
