Gearity Named NJAC Indoor Track Athlete for Second Straight Week

Montclair, NJ (1/30/12) - Junior Heather Gearity (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) earned her second consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference Indoor Track Athlete of the Week accolade on Monday. It is her third overall this season.

Gearity posted two personal best times as the Red Hawks competed in the Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday.

Gearity finished 10th overall in the 400 meters as she ran 57.23 seconds, improving her time from two weeks ago at the Gotham Cup when she ran 59.35. Her time in the 400 is currently sixth in Division III. She also clocked in at 26.38 seconds in the 200 meters to register a personal best mark before running the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay which placed 10th overall. That quartet timed in at 4:01.60 which is also sixth in the country.

Gearity is currently ranked in the Top 35 in three different events this season - pentathlon (No. 2) and 400 meters (No. 6), while also being part of the 4x400 relay that is ranked ninth overall.
